Likely invented by Don the Beachcomber way back in the 1930s, fassionola is often called the “forgotten tiki syrup” since it fell out of use for decades and had to be rediscovered. We don’t have Don’s original recipe so we’re forced to reimagine it. It’s said that it’s a tropical, fruity blend and may have originally tasted similar to Hawaiian Punch with all its glorious artificial flavors. Today, we have access to premium products and homemade options that utilize quality ingredients. There are three types and the difference is based on the type of fruit (or fruit flavors) that are used: red, gold and green. It makes delicious cocktail variations on classics such as the Hurricane when used in place of passion fruit syrup. Learn to make a simple fassionola in our Fassionola-red">Homemade Stuff section.
