Averna
Amaro Averna is an Italian liqueur produced in Sicily. It has a bittersweet taste with flavors of orange and licorice balanced with those of myrtle, juniper berries, rosemary, and sage. It has a caramel and faint cola flavor to it and is sweeter than many other Italian bitter digestifs. Amari flavors vary wildly due to their proprietary recipes and finding a suitable substitute is difficult. Amaro Ramazzotti, Amaro Ciociaro, and Amaro Meletti share some of the same characteristics.
