Grenadine
Grenadine is syrup made from pomegranate juice and sugar. Occasionally a bit of lemon juice is added to brighten the flavor. It gets its name from the French word for pomegranate: grenade. There are many poorly made products available that contain all kinds of bad ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, cherry flavoring and other nonsense. Grenadine is one of the easiest ingredients to make at home but there are some quality ones out there if you are averse to adding sugar to juice and stirring. Learn how to make it yourself in our Homemade Stuff section.
