Amaro Nonino

Amaro Nonino is a less aggressive, more accessible style of amaro that can be used both as an aperitif or a digestif. Its grappa base is infused with alpine herbs and botanicals and then fortified with grain alcohol to 35% ABV. Its ingredients include bitter and sweet oranges, gentian, liquorice, quassia wood, saffron, rhubarb, and tamarind and it’s sweetened with caramelized sugar. In the mouth, it starts out smooth and sweet and finishes mildly bitter. Amaro Montenegro has a somewhat similar flavor profile and is often used as a substitute.
