Rums from Jamaica have a distinctive flavor not very similar to those from other areas. They start with molasses and are distilled in column or pot stills, or a blend of both. The pot stills produce some of the biggest, most robust flavors of all rums. These bold flavors are often described as having a funky, tropical fruity flavor to them. The column still varieties are full-bodied and rich, known for their blending and often feature flavor characteristics gathered in the aging process.
