Blood and Sand

The original Blood and Sand cocktail was named after Rudolph Valentino’s 1922 bullfighter movie of the same name. It called for blood orange juice so I’m using that here. Unfortunately, the original recipe as published in The Savoy Cocktail Book really is a terrible equal parts spec resulting in an overly sweet and somewhat undrinkable cocktail. This variation produces a much better balanced cocktail that keeps the original’s flavor profile intact. The difference is night and day.
