Commodore #2

Based on the second of two Commodore cocktails published in 1931’s Old Waldorf Bar Days as an equal parts spec, Jamie Boudreau’s variation is more spirit-forward and for me, much more palatable. Essentially a sweeter version of a whiskey sour, the chocolate flavors provide a foundation to the grenadine and bourbon combo. You’ll note that I served this one up rather than over crushed ice. I have since made it over ice and it’s greatly improved that way.
