Passion Grove Swizzle

Published in Minimalist Tiki, author Matt Pietrek’s goal was to keep this drink fresh and light. He likes the way that a heavy dose of ginger spice pairs with pineapple so I chose to replace a small amount of the JDT Velvet Falernum with some ginger syrup (not shown) to bring these flavors into the mix. The Jamaican funk from the white overproof rum is featured here but is not overwhelming. The result achieves the goal of being wonderfully refreshing and balanced.

Instructions

Add everything to a tall glass filled three-quarters with crushed ice. Swizzle with a stick or spoon. Top up with more crushed ice. Garnish with a pineapple frond and an edible orchid.
