QB Cooler
Created by Don the Beachcomber, the name refers to the Quiet Birdmen, a drinking fraternity of aviators founded by WWI pilots in 1921.
Donn Beach claimed that his drink was the inspiration for Trader Vic’s 1944 Mai Tai. For years, he would tell the story that Vic had a QB Cooler at Beach’s bar in 1937 and then copied its flavor years later.
This cocktail presents a spicy, spirit- forward experience like a Mai Tai.
For me, the similarities end there. This is its own cocktail.
