Swollen Gland

PDT published this cocktail in their fantastic book and described it as “a subtle twist on Harry McElhone’s famous Monkey Gland cocktail, published in Harry’s ABC of Mixing Cocktails in 1922.” I’m not so sure this twist as subtle as described since it does reduce the orange juice, tosses the grenadine and adds Yellow Chartreuse. What results is a huge improvement over the original, being better balanced, deeper and more complex. Don’t let the unfortunate name fool you. This is a fantastic pour.
