Lion’s Tail
First published in 1937’s Café Royal Cocktail Book, this classic cocktail was likely invented in Prohibition-period America or by an American living in the United Kingdom.
Its name comes from the phrase, “twisting the lion’s tail” which was a reference to provoking England where the royal coat of arms features a lion.
Having similarities to both the Whiskey Sour and Daiquiri, the flavors here are all very tiki-like but with its bourbon base, it’s a nice departure from the norm.
